In-Sanity

There is a lot of emphasis given to sanitation here in the US.
One thing I have observed in India is that most people do tend to keep their houses clean. But after cleaning the house, they just throw the crap on the road. We seem to be more worried about keeping our house clean and not the environment around us. It’s nothing but indifference to your society and neighbors.

There is no excuse for that.

Same thing with public toilets. People keep their homes neat and clean but they are not courteous about leaving the public areas clean. Public hygiene can surely make us present a much needed, cleaner India to our fellow Indians.

While we were walking in one of the streets in Madras during my last visit, my 9 year old was surprised to see a man peeing on a wall in that busy street. Not just that incident, there were many times when we had to constantly keep a watch on what we were stepping. Many people have a myopic view in India towards sanitary hygiene keeping only their homes clean and not worrying about abusing the environment outside. Since almost every household in India has a TV, public can be educated if right initiations are taken.

Thats the first thing I hate about India. I get into fight with my neighbours for doing such a sin. They only care about their home and next their place of worship. The rest such as streets, public transport and etc. are not their responsibility. I hate Indian cities for the untidy way of life.
