Smoking inside a theatre

I never thought this would happen here in the US.But it did. There was this guy smoking inside a theater and nobody ever questioned him. It was very unpleasant and we had to move to a different seat to avoid smoke. It totally ruined our movie experience. I was surprised that the smoke detector did not go off.

Why couldn't you have been the person to go and tell that smoking is prohibited in the theater?

To be honest, I was scared. Gun crimes have been on the rise where i live.

hmm.

But Ram you could have notified some one from theater management.

But this is strange, that guy was smoking inside a theater? The other thing is what he could be smoking?

I could have done that. But the movie was almost over and It was 12:30 AM. So i didn't bother. But on the hindsight, I should have informed the management.

What could he be smoking? That's a good point.

Ram, I commend you for your decision. if the security in the theater locale is as poor as you suggest, it is not worth risking a backlash.

But I can suggest an alternative - call or send an e-mail to the theater management (with a masked ID if you must) and inform them of the incident telling them that if management doesn't enforce no-smoking rules, you won't spend money in the theater again.

In this country the $ is more powerful than the gun (as it should be) and your complaint will have an impact. There are security guards at businesses such as these who get paid and willingly assume the risk of retaliation so that customers don't have to.
